Stevia Sweetener

Stevia sweeteners are calorie-free sweeteners that can be used to reduce added sugar consumption while still delivering delight from the flavor of something sweet. Although some of the best natural sweeteners of this type are low-calorie & others are zero calories.

Stevia, the best natural sweetener, is as highly sweet as other no-calorie sweeteners. Because sugar substitute stevia sweeteners are 200-350 times sweeter than sugar, just a tiny quantity of stevia sweetener is required to equal the sweetness supplied by sugar. Stevia sweeteners can be seen as an ingredient in canned fruits, beverages, condiments, dairy products, and other syrups & foods by food and beverage manufacturers.

What Happened To Stevia While Intake!

Steviol glycosides are not soaked up in the upper gastrointesti

nal system, thus they don’t add calories or affect blood sugar levels. Gut bacteria break off the glucose molecules and utilize them as an energy source once they enter the colon. The steviol backbone that remains is received by the portal vein, processed by the liver, and expelled in urine.

Is It Safe To Consume?

YES! Only the pure version of stevia, known as stevioside, has been certified by the FDA as safe to use. Words like stevia extract or Stevia rebaudiana might be found in the ingredient list of products that are considered safe. Don’t buy entire stevia leaves or crude stevia extracts if you find them at your local natural foods store.

Who Can Consume Stevia?

Now that we’ve shown that stevia is safe, let’s have a look at who can take it.

Diabetic Patients:

People with diabetes are commonly advised to consume meals and beverages sweetened with stevia sweeteners as a sugar substitute stevia to sugar-sweetened foods and beverages in terms of fulfilling their sweetness need while controlling carbohydrate consumption. Stevia sweeteners do not elevate blood glucose levels or impact blood glucose control in people.

Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women:

While there has been no published research on the effects of purified steviol glycosides on pregnant and lactating women, regulatory agencies such as FDA have concluded that stevia sweeteners are safe for the general public, including pregnant and breastfeeding women, when consumed within the ADI limits. All pregnant or breastfeeding women require the required nutrients and calories for their baby’s best growth and development. While remaining mindful of their own requirements.

Children’s:

The metabolism of stevia is equal in healthy children and adults. As a result, JECFA and FDA have determined the best natural stevia sweeteners. Which are safe to consume within the ADI for children. Sugar substitute stevia can be used to provide sweetness to a child’s foods and beverages without adding calories or sugar to their diet. Stevia sweeteners are non-cariogenic, which means they don’t raise the risk of tooth decay. Nowadays, with an emphasis on lowering added sugar intake, the number of food and beverage items using zero-calorie organic stevia products has risen.
