Why you should be well aware of your sugar level?
If we talk about the long term effect of diabetes on our body then the diseases can be dived into two particular groups named microvascular and macrovascular complications of body. The microvascular complication is those complications which occur due to the damage in small blood vessels such as damage to nerves, damage to eyes, damage to kidneys, etc. whereas macrovascular complications are those complications which are occurred in the body due to damage in large vessels. This complication includes several cardiovascular issues, strokes, etc.
Microvascular Complications:
Diabetes Retinopathy: One of the most alarming and leading causes of loss of vision among diabetes is diabetic retinopathy. The higher blood sugar level results in damaging the small blood vessels of the retina and other eye’s part, thus causing loss of vision. If you tend to ignore this for a longer period, you’ll seriously damage your eye.
Diabetes Neuropathy: Sometimes high blood sugar level can lead to damaging the nerve by blocking the road of blood passage to several nerves which cause different complications such as numbness, immense pain in some parts, etc.
Diabetes Nephropathy: It is majorly seen that the blood sugar level keeps on fluctuating and this relates to majorly damage the vessels of the kidney in a very wrong way. That’s why those who have sugar, tend to urinate a lot because to some extent the sugar level is damaging the kidney vessels.
Macrovascular Complications:
Diabetes Ketoacidosis: There are many such situations where a diabetes patient cant really produces enough sugar for a particular cell and as a result of this, it tends to break down in fats and ultimately causes the production of ketones. This can happen to any diabetic patient but majorly seen with diabetic 1 patients. The early signs of these diseases are dry mouth, frequent urination, thirst, nausea, vomiting, etc.
Cardiovascular complication due to Diabetes: As mentioned above, high blood sugar levels can damage both small and large blood vessels. In this case, a high sugar level directly affects the large blood vessels of the heart. These block the arteries in several ways causing many complications such as stoke, pain, or even heart attack in an extreme case.
These were some of the complications which you should keep in mind but there are several more. If you have a prolonged high sugar level it will drastically affect various organs of the body. So it is always recommended to have a good lifestyle and diet and after that also you get encountered with a high sugar level, you should always keep it at a controlled level.
